The Record staff publishes school, district and community news in monthly one and eight page editions of the paper. The Record prints in the Amherst News-Times and is distributed to all Steele students. Selected students also cover Steele sports for the News-Times on a weekly basis. 

The journalism students hone their writing, interviewing and critical thinking skills into groundbreaking stories and newsworthy articles. Students also become skilled photographers and gain real-life experiences invaluable to future success.

As a result of their efforts, The Record staff earned a 2nd place rank in the 2013 Quill and Scroll International Honorary Society News Media Evaluation category.
